Full description

The OS survey of 1961 records a structure to the east of the central courtyard house at Bosigran (30696.1). Pool and Weatherhill in 1979 describe the remains of a hut circle approx 9.0m in diameter defined by a very low wall. The hut adjoins the courtyard house on its east side, on the far side of the present field wall (b6). Weatherhill in 1982 records it as a possible round house or small pound (h3, b7). The site was surveyed at 1:200 by CCRA/NT in 1982 and shown to have been entered not from the courtyard of the main house but from the north. It was possibly a later structure, perhaps a hut circle. Later damage including the building of a field wall make measurements difficult but the feature appears to have been roughly oval, approx 7.0m by 5.0m internally (h4, h5, b8-b11).
