Full description

The OS map of 1908 marks four barrows at Treen (b5), recorded by Borlase (b1) and Blight (b2) and mentioned by Henderson (b6) and Hencken (b7). Daniel in 1950 describes the barrow group. The most northerly is chambered (30726.1), as is the barrow third from the north (30726.3), whilst the most southerly may be chambered (30726.4) (b9). The barrows were surveyed at 1:2500 by the OS in 1961 (h1) and each is a Scheduled Monument. Russell in 1971 lists the extant remains of four barrows at Treen (b12). Three of the barrows (30726.1, .3 and .4) are visible on air photographs (p2, p3) and were plotted for the NMP.
