Full description

Thomas's excavations in 1956 and 1957 revealed a Romano-British enclosure with a single house in the interior. Three phases of occupation were identified; during the third phase the enclosure was partly rebuilt. It consisted of an earthen bank 0.6m high by 3.6m wide, revetted and rubble filled. The OS surveyed the site at 1:2500 in 1962 and recorded that the surviving north-west and south-west sides of the enclosure are in a mutilated state and average 0.5m high (h2).
