Full description

Within the elizabethan fortress at pendennis (prn 18709.31), Over 2 acres in area, were numerous buildings - particulary barracks - which have been removed (b18). Christian lilly's plan of 1715 shows 2 groups of buildings, nw of the centre of the fort, which he describes as "ruins where barracks forerly stood" (b2). Geophysical survey in this area by walker in 1989 showed traces of walls which may relate to these structures (h6, b20).
