Full description
A stone built water tower, square in plan, is visible in aerial photographs of Pendennis headland (see b18). The reservoir was constructed in 1905 (b21). The tower was used to supply water for the tented training camps on the Hornwork for the local Militia and territorial Army troops.

Water was pumped from the Falmouth Corporation supply from the engine house at Castle Drive to the water tower. It was lit by gas from the town's supply. Built in castellated mock Tudor style in a similar fashion to the Royal Artillery barracks within the castle. Work was completed on the building in 1902.
The water tower survives minus its roof tank. Some joinery survives in the surrounding undergrowth. In 1995 the building was surveyed and earmarked as a possible public viewpoint and for visitor interpretation/orientation displays (21).
