Full description

The field boundaries near Deer Park farm enclose an oval area 600m by 300m. From the name of farm it would appear to be the remains of a medieval deer park, probably belonging to the Manor of Tregavethan. It shows up prominently on aerial photographs (p1).
The Tithe Map (c1840) shows that the deer park was laid out on an area of rough ground called Bosvysack Downs, which was subsequently enclosed, with the new field boundaries running up to the deer park boundary and the interior subdivided.
