Full description
The Cornwall Railway was realigned by the GWR in the late C19 at this location. The original Cornwall Railway accomodation bridge of ca 1852-55 survives at 289m 32c, together with its associated embankment. The bridge is of squared masonry with a tall round arch having cut stone voussoirs and a low dressed stone parapet. Incurving wing walls meet the abutments. The bridge has some stability and maintenance issues, with a crack above the arch on the north elevation. Both the bridge and the associated embankment were built to double-track width, although only one line of rails was laid. The embankment survives complete, although very overgrown (JRS).
