Full description

The MOW in 1956 record a courtyard house (30690) at Bosporthennis in which is built a roughly rectangular hut measuring 7.3m by 3.0m, of dry stone walling (h1, b1). The OS who surveyed the site in 1960 at 1:2500 record a rectangular building of two room plan with dry walls 1.2m in height, which they date to the medieval period (h2). The OS resurveyed at 1:2500 in 1975 and record what is almost certainly a medieval hut adapted from the courtyard house (h3). The site was planned at 1:200 by CCRA in 1983 who recorded it as 7.4m by 3.6m externally. One gable stands to 1.2m high, there is a sub-dividing wall but no fire place. Each room has an entrance on the long north-east wall; each is approx 0.5m wide, rather narrow for livestock (h6, b4-b6). It may have been a fodder store. Nowakowski considers it to be mid-19th century as it is not on the 1840 Tithe Map but is shown unroofed on the 1880s OS 1:2500 map (b8). The monument is included in the Schedule.
