Full description

Two mills are recorded at Bosigran on the 1834 Borlase map (b2) and the 1842 Tithe Map (b3). The site was damaged by the 1861 Bosigran stamps (33247) but it is possible to identify traces of the original corn/grist milling complex using the 1876 1st Edition 1:2500 OS and the 1:200 plan made in 1982 by the CCRA and the National Trust (h1, b5-7). The north mill recorded on the early maps (b2 and 3) has a waterwheel at the south end of an apparently simple rectangular structure; the wheel was worked by the tailrace of the larger south west mill (30705.1). The low ruins of a structure do survive in the rough position of this mill, with walls to approx 0.8m high and internal dimensions approx 3.0m square. A roofed structure is recorded here on the 1876 1st Edition 1:2500 OS and it is therefore unclear whether this is the earlier mill (b8).
