Full description

The 1871 whim engine of Carn Galver mine is better preserved than the pumping engine house. All four walls survive virtually intact (h1, b16). It housed a twenty two inch engine erected by G. Eustace of Hayle (b15). Long boiler house along the east side, fly wheel and winding drum loadings to the north east. The whim wound, via pulley stands from three shafts including the main pumping shaft, 33236.08. The boiler house reused the chimney from the earlier pumping engine house 33236.3, approx 13m to the south west (b16). Re-pointed in 1984 and new oak lintels inserted in the openings (b16).
