Full description
Mclaughlan shows a "tumulus" on his plan of 1846 (b3). Henderson failed to find it in 1917 (b6). A field visit by CCRA in 1983, revealed that the "barrow" is a bank or mound 22m long, and up to 1.6m high, most substantial and rounded at the south-east and losing height to the north-west. Most likely to be associated with the construction of Sterling Castle in the C18 (h2).
