Full description

One of a group of four barrows (30726) marked on the OS map of 1908 (b5) and described by Daniel in 1950 (b9). The OS who surveyed the barrow at 1:2500 in 1961 record the most southerly of the group is now unrecognisable as a barrow. The mound has a maximum height of 1.3m and is very spread with the centre having been robbed and no trace of any chambering (h1). The barrow is marked on the OS map of 1963 (b11) and is listed by Russell in 1971 (b12). The OS in 1975 record no change from the survey of 1961 (h2). Sheppard in 1984 records that recent ploughing has encroached about 1.0m into the side of the barrow on the west with a few displaced stones, and soil and turf dumped on the top. The remainder of the site is covered by grass and brambles (h4, b15). Visible on air photographs (p2, p3) and was plotted for the NMP. The monument is included in the Schedule.
