Full description
The extant field system to the south of Penarthtown is considered to be anciently enclosed land of medieval or earlier origin according to the Cornwall Landscape Assessment carried out by the CAU in 1994. Perpendicular field banks forming a system of small rectangular fields (80m by 70m) are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (p1) and were plotted during the Cornwall NMP. They are considered likely to be of medieval origin although an earlier prehistoric date cannot be ruled out.
