Full description

A cairn shown on OS maps of 1907 (b1) and 1963 (b2). Surveyed by the OS in 1973 (h1), and by the RCHM in the 1980s (h2, h3, b3). This cairn stands in a crest position towards the north east edge of Greenbarrow Downs plateau. It is turf covered, and in fair condition, apart from extensive mutilation in the top and east side. The barrow has an overall diameter of 23m, and consists of a platform 0.5m high, with a central mound 16m across and 0.7m high. On the perimeter is a rim 2.5m wide and 0.1m high on inner edge. The top has been dug into, with spoil deposited on east. The cairn is one in a group of three, and is very similar to 1634.1, another in the group. The monument is included in the Schedule.
