Full description

A bridge carrying the public road over the line of the Cornwall Railway at 306m 8c. The bridge is of rubble masonry, with a segmental arch on vertical abutments. There are cut stone voussoirs and quoins with pyramidal skew backs which have decorative tooling. The ramped incurving wing walls flow smoothly into the quoins, which are dressed to fit the curve. There is an oversailing stone parapet with small end-set coping. Probably built by Samuel Garratt (contractor) as part of the first phase of the Famouth line, 1853-54. (JRS)
