Full description

Perranwell Station was opened as part of the Cornwall Railway on 24th August 1863. Buildings of typically Italianate design were provided on both platforms, and there was a small goods yard with a stone-built goods shed. An unusual elevated signal box was added in 1894. Goods traffic ceased in 1965, and the signal box, passing loop and up platform were taken out of use in 1966. The platform buildings and signal box were later demolished. Of the original CR station of 1863 very little survives, other than the disused up platform which appears to be original, and the goods shed. There is a good example of a later GWR station nameboard on the down side platform (JRS).
