Full description
A Visick type one standard cast iron fingerpost survives in the central of Pilaton. The column is round in plan with four sleeve mounted arms topped with an ogee ring and cone finial.
The bottom arm CALLINGTON over AMY TREE; next arm CLAPPER BRIDGE over BLUNTS over QUETHIOCK; the next arm (repaired) LANDULPH over HATT over SALTASH and the top arm records LANDRAKE.
Livery, all white with the arms and finial being painted racing green (previously black), picking out the raised edge and lettering, no distances are recorded and the whole finial picked out in black (3).
The fingerpost (guide post) is not recorded on early maps (1 & 2), suggesting C20, unusual in that the arms do not carry distances.
