Full description
A shot yard, close to the new magazine, is delineated on plans from 1811 until 1828.
The yard was probably built to store the vast amaount of shot which Pendennis Castle as an Odrnance Depot would have housed during the Napoleonic Wars. Within, round shot and other projectiles would have been stored and maintained in vast pyramids, constructed inside low brass or iron kerbs called 'shot monkeys' (1).
