Full description
By the time the magazine was surveyed by the Ordnance in 1866 a shell filling room had been constructed against the west face of its blast wall. This is the only location at Falmouth for shell filling. The only filled shell store was the building constructed against the mid-C19 magazine at Crab Quay, so the two may have been related. Alternatively, some of the guns in Practice Battery may have fired filled shells (1).
