Colonel Elias Durnford's plan of 1793 shows the crownwork completely enclosed by a palisade running from the salient of the lunette parallel with its flanks to the sea to the east and west - presumably to demarcate the extent of the defensible land.

Colonel Elias Durnford's plan of 1793 shows the crownwork completely enclosed by a palisade running from the salient of the lunette parallel with its flanks to the sea to the east and west - presumably to demarcate the extent of the defensible land (1).
