Summary
In 1901 a single defence electric light was erected at Pendennis Point. The searchlight, in tandem with two on St Anthony Head supplemented the fixed lights at Middle Point and St Mawes which provided an illuminated area over the minefield. Searchlight 1 as it became known could sweep the outer harbour from Falmouth Bay to St Anthony Point.

Full description
In 1901 a single defence electric light was erected at Pendennis Point. The searchlight, in tandem with two on St Anthony Head supplemented the fixed lights at Middle Point and St Mawes which provided an illuminated area over the minefield. Searchlight 1 as it became known could sweep the outer harbour from Falmouth Bay to St Anthony Point. This emplacement was in contact with the searchlight director by telephone. All emplacements have subsequently been demolished leaving only footings (1).
