To bring Half Moon Battery's lights up to standard, a searchlight was emplaced in a purpose-built wooden hut on this site above the Blockhouse. This was demolished at the outbreak of World War Two when it was replaced by a new concrete emplacement. All emplacements have subsequently been demolished leaving only footings (1).
