Full description

The parish of Morvah is still, as it has always been, a chapelry to Madron. Henderson notes that it is probably the chapel of St Bridget mentioned in 1390 (b1). St Morwetha is named in the C14, and lands surrounding the church are called Merther showing that they date from Celtic times (b2). The church of the C15 contained a chancel, nave and aisle. The west tower of two stages is all that remains, and the present building was completed in 1828. It contains a nave and chancel in rough granite, without aisles and in Pevsner's opinion meant to be Cornish and medieval from the outside, though this is not consistent with the style of the window tracery.
