Full description
The holy well of St Uny is recorded by Borlase in 1758 (b1) and mentioned by Blight in 1864 as having a few wrought stones placed around it which he suggests were from the chapel which stood in the vicinity (28453) (b2). The well is marked on the OS maps of 1908 (b4) and 1963 (b7) and is mentioned by Doble (b5) and Henderson (b6). The OS who surveyed the well at 1:2500 in 1960 record a stone lined cavity 1.6m long, 0.8m wide and 0.7m deep to the water level. It includes three shallow steps forming an approach from the south-east (h1).
