Full description

A menhir 620m north-east of Boscawen-un stone circle (16030), in the lane leading to Boscawen-noon farm, is mentioned in 1894 (b1), and is marked on the OS map of 1908 (b3). The menhir, scheduled in association with the stone circle and another outlying menhir (16029) (b4), was visited by the OS in 1960. They record a large slab set on edge and incorporated in the field hedge. In section the stone measures 2.0m by 0.4m and is 2.2m high, measured from its lowest inside point. The upper part tapers sharply to a point (h1, p1). The menhir is shown on the OS map of 1968 (b5) and is listed by Russell in 1971, who records extant remains of a standing stone in a hedge (b6). Sheppard in 1980 reports that the stone is secure (b7).
