Full description
About 50 sherds of pottery were recovered during excavations in the 1950s at Lower Boscaswell fogou. These fell into two groups: mostly Iron Age 'B' pottery of south-west England; and C12-C13 to modern wares (b1). Re-examination of the post-prehistoric sherds has revealed that two or three sherds are grass-marked base sherds of the early medieval period. These were found in the filling of passages in the Iron Age fogou (b2).
