Summary

Dark cropmarks visible on aerial photographs taken between 1959 and 1999 resemble a later prehistoric or Roman rectilinear ditched enclosure. However they cross-cut in one corner and may have formed over geological anomalies rather than buried archaeological features.

On cuc air photograph this looks as though it may well be of more recent origin (griffith). Vis=23/9/1982 (os) the cropmark lies on a flattish area about 63m od in a ploughed field. No remains are visible on the ground. Vis=15/3/1989 (robinson). Level area, nothing visible (dprfp).

Dark cropmarks in a rectilinear layout, circa 1.5 to 3 metres wide and covering an area of approximately 150 by 70 metres, are visible on aerial photographs taken between 1959 and 1999. They resemble a rectilinear ditched enclosure, with the north-east side not visible and a double ditch along the south-east side. However, although the western corner is convincing, in the southern corner the linears appear to cross-cut and do not form a coherent return. The cropmarks therefore may have formed over geological anomalies rather than buried archaeological features.
