Summary

Rashleigh barton. Elaborate ceiling with enriched ribs of period two (1600-1650). One ceiling similar to that at 144 fore street exeter, with naturalistic portrayals of coiling branches, strawberry leaves and fruit, peapods etc. Vast variety of birds, beasts and fish among the vegetation. Dated circa 1640. Frieze with jacobean strapwork, arabesques and shields flanked by figures and heads in cartouches (french).
