Hegarty, C. + Knight, S., 2011-2012, North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV349018.

The remains of four former field boundaries of probable medieval or post-medieval date are visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the 1970s as cropmarks to the south of Westacott Farm. The cropmarks correspond in with field boundaries depicted on the Alwington tithe map of circa 1837. The curvilinear field boudnaries are probably medieval in origin. The boundaries are not depicted on the Ordnance Survey first edition 25inch map of 1880s-1890s, and had therefore probably passed out of use by the second half of the 19th century. The earthworks are not clearly visible on later aerial photographs and may have been levelled by modern agricultural improvement.
