Summary

A ring ditch was visible on aerial photographs as a cropmark overlooking the Exe Valley east of Burrow Farm, Rewe. This ring ditch is part of a group of five or six similar cropmarks of variable size visible in this area. Two were originally recorded under record MDV79049 and 4 previously grouped under MDV10215.
It is difficult to confidently ascribe date and function to ring ditches based on cropmark evidence alone. For instance they could be evidence of barrows of Bronze Age date or round houses of Iron Age to Roman date. The previously grouped ring ditches in this area have now been ascribed individual monument records.
The cropmark recorded here is 1 to 1.5 metres wide and encloses a circular area approximately 8 metres in diameter. It could potentially be evidence for a small barrow of Bronze Age date or a round house of Iron Age to Roman date.
Many of the aerial photographs consulted by the survey are copies of DAPs or CUCAP images held by the Historic England Archive. In some cases these have been recorded as separate sources. This is because variations in the way the prints have been processed could result in images on which archaeological features are visible to a greater or lesser degree.
