Hegarty, C. + Knight, S., 2011 - 2012, North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV349018.

The remains of a former road are visible on aerial photographs of 1945 onwards, as an earthwork holloway or track on a slight hill or rise to the south-east of Abbotsham Court, Abbotsham. The inverted y-shaped earthwork is at least partly probably the same as the road marked in dashed lines on the 1840 tithe map for Abbotsham, connecting the main road to the north with the road south towards Rixlade Farm and Greencliff. The earthworks probably also incorporate an approach road or drive to Abbotsham Court. This short stretch of route, and the remaining road to the south, probably passed out of use with the creation of Abbotsham Court Farm, as depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch first edition map of the 1880s-1890s. The earthworks appear somewhat lower but remain visible on aerial photographs of 2007.
