A small area of narrow ridge and furrow earthworks is visible on aerial photographs of 1946, centred on circa SS24352290, some 250 metres to the north-west of Galsham Farm, Hartland. This location is depicted on the Ordnance Survey first edition 25inch map of the 1880s-1890s as an area of rough ground where a spring-head rises. This may support the interpretation that the earthworks were made for agricultural improvement and drainage, probably in the modern periods, most likely the later 19th century. They are not clearly visible on later aerial photographs and might have been reduced or levelled by subsequent improvements.
