Hegarty, C. + Knight, S., 2011 - 2012, North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV349018.

Earthworks are visible on aerial photographs of 1946 on the southern edge of the shrunken settlement of Eddistone, Hartland parish. These might include a building platform and associated yards, tracks or hollow ways, potentially of medieval date. Some of the north-south orientated earthworks may relate to former field boundaries and a road or green lane depicted on the 1844 tithe map for Hartland. The road and many of the field boundaries are not depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch map of circa 1880s-1890s, indicating that they had probably passed out of use by this time. Most of the relict earthworks and field boundaries extant in 1946 have been removed and possibly levelled by May 1978.
