Hegarty, C. + Knight, S., 2011 - 2012, North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV349018.

A sub-square pit approximately 40 metres by 30 metres is visible on aerial photographs taken between 1946 and 2007 as an earthwork with a dark cropmark in the centre. It is likely to be the remains of a large cut feature such as a quarry pit, although likely extraction products in this area are not known. No quarry or other earthwork feature is depicted here on the 1880s-1890s Ordnance Survey mapping, and its use and disuse may therefore predate the late nineteenth century.
