Narrow ridge and furrow earthworks, probably created for post-medieval or modern agricultural improvement and drainage, are visible as earthwork banks on aerial photographs dating from the 1940s to the 1970s, to the east of Spanny Hone, Alwington.
The earthworks are orientated roughly north-north-west to south-south-east, across the gentle south-east facing slopes of a small irregularly shaped field, the ridges are aligned towards the head of a combe to the south, probably to facilitate drainage. The earthworks appear to have been levelled on aerial photographs taken in 1971, but remain visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1979. They are not visible on the most recent aerial photographs available to the survey and might have been removed by later improvements.
