A shallow earthwork ditch visible on aerial photographs of 1946 to 1977, to the east of Portledge House, might be evidence of a former field boundary or potentially a former parkland feature such as a ha-ha. The 5 metre wide ditch is visible spanning a distance of just over 90 metres between two driveways approaching Portledge from the east. It is not clearly identifiable as an earthworkon aerial photographs from 1979 onwards.
