Summary

A linear bank is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs dating to 1978. It is probably a continuation of one of the straight linear boundaries comprising a post-medieval field system to the north, but which fell out of use before the mid-nineteenth century. It may have been levelled or reduced in height through ploughing.

Warren and Co. Surveyors., 1844, First copy of the map of the Parish of Hartland in the County of Devon in two Parts. (Cartographic). SDV349361.

No field boundary is depicted in this location.

A linear bank is visible as an earthwork.

A linear bank 3 metres in width is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs dating to 1978. It appears to be a continuation of one of the straight linear boundaries comprising a post-medieval field system to the north. It is not depicted in the Tithe map of 1844, and is likely to have fallen into disuse before the mid-nineteenth century. It is not visible on any other available aerial photographs and may have been levelled or reduced by ploughing.
