Former field boundaries of probable medieval or post-medieval date are visible as an earthwork ditch and bank to the north-west of Fairy Cross. The earthworks correspond with field boundaries depicted on the 1837 Alwington tithe map, but are not marked on the Ordnance Survey 25inch first edition map and had therefore probably passed out of use prior to its publication.
