An irregularly shaped earthwork pit is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1971. It is approximately 50 metres in length and 10 to 15 metres wide, being widest at the western end where it abuts the boundary alongside the road. Although it superficially resembles a natural feature, its eastern end is very clearly defined with an abrupt change in slope. It is likely to be a quarry pit, predating the 1880s-1890s Ordnance Survey map which does not show a quarry in this location, and may have been associated with the construction of the road or field boundaries. It is therefore likely to be post-medieval or modern in date. It is visible as a dark cropmark on 2007 aerial photographs and is likely to survive as an earthwork.
