HER Number:MDV102550
Name:Hulk on the Skern close to shore west of Appledore

Summary

A hulk is visible, on the foreshore of the Skern between Appledore and Northam Burrows, on aerial photographs between the 1950s and 2007. It does not appear to have significantly changed position although while it stood proud of the sand in the 1950s any remains are now mainly below the surface. The remains may be from a vessel brought into the Skern for salvage, possibly the 'Shamrock' built in 1899.
