Summary

Several poles are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1944 and they are interpreted as communications infrastructure associated with Second World War military activity at either the radar station or the training area. The posts are not visible on later aerial photographs and were presumably removed soon after the end of the war.

Royal Air Force, 1944, RAF/106G/LA/88, NMR RAF/106G/LA/88 FSO/0017-0018 SS4531/44 31-DEC-1944 (Aerial Photograph). SDV349744.

Several poles with rectangular fittings at the top are visible. Location is approximate.

Several poles are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1944 between Northam Burrows and the Skern. The rectangular fittings at the top suggest that they were communications infrastructure, and presumably associated with Second World War military activity at either the radar station or the training area. The posts are not visible on later aerial photographs and were presumably removed soon after the end of the war. The location given is approximate.
