Two rectangular features are visible as slight earthwork pits on aerial photographs between 1945 and 2010. Measuring circa 14 by 45 metres and 10 by 55 metres and perpendicular to the nearby road known as D Lane, it is likely that these features were associated with Second World War military training at the nearby landing craft mock-ups by the U.S. Army. Their exact use is not known, but they appear paler and perhaps therefore drier than the surrounding ground, suggesting that they could be compacted ground or hard standing, perhaps for mustering of military vehicles. The features are likely to survive as earthworks.
