A small rectangular structure of probable Second World War date is visible on aerial photographs of 1945 onwards, centred on circa SS45093557 on the northern edge of Area C of the U.S. Army Assault Training Centre on Braunton Burrows. The structure measures approximately 5 metres by 3 metres in size, orientated roughly NNW by SSE. The function of the structure is unknown. It does not correspond with any features depicted on the U.S. Army map of the training area, but it is likely to be of military origin. It can still be seen as a structure on aerial photographs of 1953 and might correspond with a low earthwork mound visible on interactive digital images derived from aerial photographs flown in 2007.
