Sections of earthwork trackway, several structures and poles of probable Second World War date and military function are visible on aerial photographs of 1945. It is likely that they are components of the Assembly Area for embarkation exercises within the U.S. Army’s Second World War Assault Training Centre, depicted on an unattributed plan. The complex covers approximately 200 metres at Crow Point. It appears that the structures were already partially removed or dismantled by April 1945, and much of the area has since been lost to coastal erosion. However some structures are still visible on aerial photographs taken in 2010, and sections of earthwork may also survive.
