Name: | Concrete wall at Crow Point |
---|
Summary
A linear structure of probable Second World War date and military function is visible on aerial photographs between 1945 and 2010. It is interpreted as a concrete wall associated with the Assembly Area for embarkation practise at the U.S. Army’s Assault Training Centre. Despite significant coastal erosion the structure seems to survive on the foreshore.

A linear structure, circa 1.5 by 30 metres, is visible across the north part of the neck of Crow Point on aerial photographs between 1945 and 2010. It is probably the remains of a concrete wall marked on plans of the Assembly Area for embarkation training within the Second World War Assault Training Centre used by the U.S. Army, but its exact function is not known. Although much of the area has been lost to coastal erosion, the wall is clearly visible on the foreshore in 2010, in a very different context to its former position within the dunes.
