A quarry pit is visible as a well-defined earthwork on aerial photographs from 1942 and on images derived from Lidar data captured in 2006-2007. It is elongated in shape, 22 metres in length east to west and 7 metres wide. The quarry is not depicted on 1904-1906 Ordnance Survey maps, although an 'Old Quarry' is marked circa 60 metres to the south. It is likely therefore to have gone out of use prior to the twentieth century, and to be post-medieval or modern in date.
