Swete, travelling across Dartmoor in 1797, describes how on his approach to the turnpike road, a couple of miles from Postbridge, found himself 'surrounded by innumerable Rabbits' at Mead's Warren. The warren was delineated by a line of stones but was otherwise unfenced. The enclosed area included old stream works lying within a deep hollow. Exact location is unknown.
