Previously opened seventy years before, when some small articles were found. May have been danish settlement here. Other place names nearby have danish associations; some old cottages were known as 'rats' castle', and there is a 'danes' mill' not far away.

ROSE-TROUP, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV22906.

Said to have been despoiled in the 19th century when "swords and things" were found (danish origin is only surmise) (rose-troup).

Vis=19/11/1953 (os) much ploughed. No trace of berm or ditch.
