Name: | Possible Field or Enclosure Boundaries East of Lynton Cross |

Summary
Three linear banks are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs from 1946 and as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 2001. They are tentatively interpreted as the remains of medieval or post-medieval field boundary banks that went out of use prior to the mid nineteenth century, although it is possible that they are the remains of an earlier enclosure.

Hegarty, C. + Knight, S., 2011-2012, North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV349018.
Three linear banks, are visible as earthworks up to 4 metres in width on aerial photographs from 1946 and as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 2001. Two sections aligned approximately north to south abut a longer section aligned approximately north-east to south west. No field boundaries are depicted in this location on the 1840 Tithe map, and it seems likely that these features are the remains of medieval or post-medieval field boundary banks that went out of use prior to the mid nineteenth century. However it is possible that they could be the remains of an earlier enclosure, and further work would be required to ascertain their exact date.
