A small roughly circular shaped earthwork depression is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards on the south facing combe slopes to the east of Henstridge Farm. The earthwork is probably the remains of a quarry pit of post-medieval date. The possible quarry remains visible as a subtle earthwork on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in May 2007, a possible access track visible as an east to west orientated hollow immediately to the south of the pit. A similar if smaller earthwork pit circa 380 metres to the east-north-east is depicted but not annotated on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25inch map. The pit recorded here is not depicted, which might support the interpretation it had passed out of use prior to the First Edition 25inch map’s publication in circa 1889.
